The Summer Obsession (TSO) are a 3-piece pop/rock band with punk, electronic, hip-hop and reggae influences. TSO consists of singer/bassist Luke Walker, singer/guitarist Fin Leavell, and drummer Chris Wilson. We are currently supporting our newest release Believe Nothing Explore Everything which is available as a free download in the music section, to the left. It is an 8-song EP that was released March 31st, 2010, and was produced, recorded and mixed by the band. TSO was formed in Jacksonville Beach, FL by Luke and Fin, releasing our first CD Two Types Of People in June 2004. The CD was for free download only. Our song 8 AM was featured on the 2004 MySpace Warped Tour Compilation CD. Three videos were filmed - one each for 8 AM, Down For Whatever and I Miss You. All the videos were done by the band themselves and put up online. Shortly after Warped Tour 2004, Luke and Fin moved to Los Angeles, CA. TSO has been recognized as the first band to take advantage of MySpace.com, a social networking website still new in 2004, to spread their music and message. We became personal friends with owners Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe, and were featured on the site several times. On November 16th, 2004 - we were contacted by the A&R of The Rolling Stones at Virgin Records. Our focus was immediately turned to finding band members and writing for TSO's first major label album. Shortly before recording started, we performed at the Playboy Mansion (Luke and Fin are both characters in the video game Playboy: the Mansion). In July 2005, armed with producer Josh Abraham (Weezer, Slayer, Alkaline Trio), the group went into the studio to record. Fin met Chris through a friend in Phoenix, AZ. Chris was asked to jump aboard the TSO pirate ship as first captain of the drums and the trio was officially born. In December 2005 our song Melt The Sugar was released on Myspace Records Vol. 1. The new album was titled This Is Where You Belong. Bassist Christ Miller joined the group in 2006 and the band toured heavily with bands Cartel, Story Of The Year, Saosin, Hit The Lights, Mya and more. Three videos were filmed - one each for Death Said, Bored and Do You Remember. We performed live on national television, on both Cartoon Network and Fox News. Do You Remember was released to radio in July 2006 and then This Is Where You Belong was released August 29th, 2006. Most of the album's songs were featured on MTV's Laguna Beach. In January 2007 the band cut ties with the record label and released the EP We're Not Virgins Anymore. The band continued to tour on both the album and EP for a few months before performing at the first annual Punk Spring Festival in Japan with NOFX, Jimmy Eat World and more. Later that year, after a short break, we returned to Japan for a tour with Boys Like Girls. Christ left the band to start his own band, HILLvalley. In 2008 the band focused on recording. Quite a few songs were recorded for albums that were never released (you can hear some of these songs in our music section, to the left). We released a single called We Are All Telepathic that Summer, but then took a small hiatus. In Summer 2009 we regrouped and spent six months recording our newest release, Believe Nothing Explore Everything. On March 31st, 2010 that EP was released right here on our website for free. More music and appearances soon, stay tuned to our website for the latest updates! |
